WHO RUNS THIS SITE?

This site is a dynamic project that aims to represent millions of underrepresented moms by serving as an advocacy arm of membership organizations that work on behalf of mothers.   Melody Webb, the director of Secure Mom, is also a liaison to Mocha Moms, a support group for at-home mothers.  She serves as a steering committee member of the Lawyers-At-Home Forum of the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia.

Melody Webb and husband Steve O'Sullivan run this site.

MELODY WEBB.

Melody Webb graduated from Harvard College magna cum laude in 1990 and received her law degree from Harvard Law School in 1993. A native of Washington, D.C. and a graduate of the city's public schools,  Melody clerked in the D.C. Court of Appeals for Judge Emmet Sullivan, now of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.  As director, she performed grass-roots organizing and advocacy for at-risk youth through a project funded by the National Association of Public Interest Law (now Equal Justice Works), the law firm of Crowell & Moring, and the Butler Family Fund. At the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, she performed direct legal services and systemic reform work, including advocacy on the D.C. budget before D.C. Congressional oversight committees.

Melody decided that being a mom was more important than working as a lawyer, and so has worked as a full and part-time at-home mother for four years now - tending the garden of two little flower buds with a long way to grow.  Throughout this time she has remained active as a pro bono advocate on special education issues, public education reform, and has served on numerous boards concerned with governance and public interest issues.

Since launching Lobbyline in late 2002, Melody has been recognized for her advocacy work by Senator Edward Kennedy and Lobbyline has served as a resource on the Washington Post's website's education page on vouchers.  She has appeared as a guest on the national public radio political talk show the Diane Rehm show and has presented on the nationally syndicated Radio One Mark Thompson show.  She has made guest appearances on numerous local radio  and television news shows as an advocate for public education in the District of Columbia.

STEVE O'SULLIVAN..

This website is powered by Steve O'Sullivan. Steve is an accomplished software engineer.  He received a first honors degree in classics from Oxford University.  With this training, Steve undertook a software engineering career.  A tremendous asset to SecureMom.com and husband to Melody Webb, Steve brings wide ranging talents and invaluable support to this important effort.
